so trump has signed an executive order to withdraw from the united nations human rights council, a refugee organization, some others parts as well and calls for a review of american involvement in funding of the united nations.
he said the united nations has not been living to its potential and they need to get their act together or just dissolve the organization completely.
he said america will continue to be a part of the un but it's tiring that the united states is the country that funds most of the monies and that can't continue.
The UN all but collapsed in the 90s with the wars in the Baltic where the UN would stand idly by while atrocities happened.
It is a forum for politicians to get some cheap wins and funnel trillions of dollars from rich nations to warlords and terrorists.
The UN is based in an international socialist ideal that you can centralize power into a superstate and arrange the affairs of the nations. It just doesn’t work like that.

There are three independent branches of government. Read the federalist papers if you want to understand how it works. Pure democracy typically centralizes power into the executive branch, hence why we should have small government, that way you cannot control everything from a single seat. Axing bureaucracy as Trump is doing now is reducing his power directly, thousands of bureaucrats that were wielding their own power structure while unelected are now voluntarily leaving, that is a good thing as that power is now returned to the states and flows down to the citizen.
If what you want to do in business or private is not regulated or there is no law against it, then it is allowed per the constitution. If the government wants to do something that is not regulated or has a bureaucrat or law for it, government is not allowed to do it. That’s the crux of the constitutional republic.

It is a 10 year suspended sentence, so he has to serve 2-4 years, the rest he is on probation. Provided he doesn’t pick up any other cases and complies with his bond, his bond conditions expire within 10y, he picks up anything, DUI, assault, drugs, he spends the remainder of the sentence in prison. Likely lifelong registered sex offender.
Given his apparent age, this will basically follow him until he dies, if he doesn’t have an ‘accident’ in prison - these people if they go in gen pop don’t survive very long, so they often end up in protected custody, where you basically get a 4x4 cell, alone, 23h/day, 2x30m in the yard, alone. For weak minded ones, as long term JW often are, this is a trip to the looney bin in weeks-months.
The prison system has a good way of taking care of these people, criminals are often victims themselves. Some of the things they do, the guards may even let them.
If he does survive his ordeal, I know JW will take him back in, may even make him the poster child of some reformation or persecution, although they’ll call him André when they tell his story.

speaking to an old elder friend recently about his decision to home school his high school aged kids.. he claims that here in australia, about 30% of the students that log into online classrooms are jw's.
the others are disabled kids - who cant physically attend class and the rest are long distance students.. another generation of under-educated jw kids on the way..
@diogenesister: the primary reason people homeschool is to get a better education. Again, it is all about parental motivation to the kids, where are the priorities. If the parents want their kids to go out in service and view school as suspicious, you won’t get good results, regardless of the type of school.
People from around the world go to the US for private education and healthcare, simply because it has the best outcome globally for people that are motivated. From lower to higher education, the US is filled with the rich class children of Asians, Africans and Europeans. I’ve worked in higher education for a while now and it is easier to find a foreigner than an American, even the people you think are white, speak perfect English (like myself) are often foreigners.

Hey, I’m a JW kid, but I was self-educated and self-motivated. I do have accolades and relatively well published nowadays, even have my name in documents related to one of the biggest US scientific project of the last and next decade, even made small contributions to the CERN LHC project. I agree that the majority if they remain JW may not, but I believe approx. 80% of JW kids nowadays stop attending, go to college etc.
JW abuse (in every way from eviction and abandonment to more serious physical and sexual abuse) in general is a problem that perpetuates through the generations, but kids can be successful despite lack of early education. My last year in school was interrupted by JW ‘schools’, I tried so hard in pursuit of a JW girl :) but I pulled it together somehow. I know others may not have been as lucky, but you can always do your best and you’re almost guaranteed to be successful. Nobel prize specifically has always been a political thing, but I know kids that were raised JW that have the potential.

Home schooling doesn’t necessarily mean they are undereducated. Plenty of people do it.
In the US, African American families often have a bias against education, there too you see despite full availability of public schools, people don’t graduate high school, are unable to read properly etc. So too JW are biased against education, despite having it available, their kids often don’t fully attend, putting their efforts into proselytizing.
Home schoolers on average do better than public schools, on par with private schools. It all depends on the parent and their priorities, kids mirror that. Home schooling in some regions of the world allow side stepping of oversight, the US is pretty strict on these things, requiring annual equivalency tests both at state and federal level, but Europe and I guess Australia, once you home school there are no further checks.
